Intec Ltd is an ASX-listed Australian hydrometallurgical technology company. Our company is offering a full-time industrial experience position to a 3rd or 4th year student over the summer period. The right candidate can start immediately, to work for a flexible period of time based on your needs.

The Intec Process is a patented technology for the production of high-quality base, precious and rare earth metals from mineral concentrates and industrial waste feedstocks. It has substantial environmental and cost advantages over both the widely used conventional smelting and refining processes and other known hydrometallurgical processes for the recovery of base and precious metals.

The role will involve a mixture of hands-on laboratory experience, as well as active participation in two of the company’s major projects (zinc/lead and rare earth metals), some literature research, and other tasks as they arise in this dynamic work environment. Your time will be split between the company’s head office in North Sydney (next to the train station) and the Brookvale laboratory.

Intec recognises that true talent can be found beyond simple exam results. Instead, our key criteria are that you must:
• be easy to get along with, with excellent verbal and written communications;
• have buckets full of ‘keen’, and be ready to really enjoy your experience;
• be strongly oriented to research-style thinking. If you don’t know an answer, that’s fine, but you have to have the drive to go out and look for it without being told;
• have an active interest in inorganic chemistry;
• preferably have your own transport (for days at the Brookvale lab);
• some previous literature research experience would be helpful;
• some knowledge of AAS would be useful.
