People don't commit suicide if they miss out on profits but I know from first hand experience quite a few people commited suicide in the Dot Com bust by losing their life savings by continually topping up in hopeless stocks in response to mindless up ramping like
- To the moon
- Great buying opportunity
- We will soon see a new ATH
- Clearly some one is accumulating
- People are not selling it's just shorters manipulating
- We are bound to see a takeover at these prices
- You will never be able to buy at these prices ever again. Blah blah blah
When a stock is in a clear downtrend with relentless selling then capital preservation takes precedence over potential profit.
You live to fight another day and one of the best sayings in the stock market is it's better to take a small manageable loss before it turns into a big devastating loss.
