    Hi Tom,

Thought I'd take up that challenge as to how many coal-fired generators are going to be built over the next two years.

Below is from Google Bard, with a fairly dark green slant that shows just how entrenched the green left is in tech, governments, NGOs, media, business and so on. The demand is there for our lovely black gold:

The number of coal-fired power stations that will be built around the world over the next two years is uncertain. However, according to the Global Energy Monitor, there are currently 458 coal-fired power units under construction worldwide, and 903 if you include those in the pre-permitting or permit phase. This represents a significant decline from the peak of 1,600 coal-fired power units under construction in 2015.

The decline in coal-fired power plant construction is due to a number of factors, including the falling cost of renewable energy, the increasing cost of carbon emissions, and the growing awareness of the environmental impacts of coal-fired power generation. However, there are still a number of countries that are planning to build new coal-fired power plants, including China, India, and Indonesia. In China, the government has approved the construction of 106 gigawatts of coal-fired power capacity over the next five years. This is despite the fact that China has pledged to peak its carbon emissions by 2030 and achieve net-zero emissions by 2060.In India, the government has approved the construction of 20 gigawatts of coal-fired power capacity over the next five years. This is despite the fact that India is one of the most vulnerable countries to climate change. In Indonesia, the government has approved the construction of 10 gigawatts of coal-fired power capacity over the next five years. This is despite the fact that Indonesia is a major producer of coal and has committed to reducing its reliance on coal. The construction of these new coal-fired power plants is a major setback for the global effort to combat climate change. It is essential that countries that are planning to build new coal-fired power plants reconsider their plans and instead invest in renewable energy and energy efficiency.
