Although this is from a few weeks ago there Metal Buliten had a summary on the zinc concentrates market “Zinc concs 'bloodbath' sees TCs reach new highs, lead terms dive”
The higher mine production next year will come from new mine ramp-ups; Vedanta’s South African Gamsberg mine has shipped its first tonnages to South Korea, with the vessel departing in late December, informed sources said. This comes soon after the production increase at the Dugald River mine, although fellow newcomer the New Century zinc mine continues to experience teething problems with its chemistry and concentrate grain size. The switch from a tight to well-supplied zinc concentrates market has meant smelters are more discerning when it comes to which parcels they take. Material that has non-standard specifications is being bid at TCs as high as $300 per tonne with effectively no market for it currently.
It is critical that NCZ gets to it’s standard specification prior to ramping up production volumes because they do not want to be producing large volumes of concentrates they are unable to sell.
