Reporters without Borders, a press freedom group, on Sunday condemned a raid by Palestinian gunmen on the Ramallah studios of the satellite television channel al-Arabiya and called on the Palestinian Police to investigate.
Five masked gunmen stormed the studios Saturday night, holding staff at gunpoint while they smashed equipment, police said. One of the gunmen told a worker, "This is a message to you, this is the last time you can work here," without further explanation. An employee speculated that the channel's reports on Palestinian Authority rifts may have angered senior PA officials.
The masked men said they were from the Aksa Martyrs Brigades, which denied any connection with the raid.
