Perth-based telecommunications company Swiftel Ltd today said it expected a maiden profit of $1.48 million this financial year.
Swiftel said it expected to post earnings before interest and tax (EBIT) of $1.48 million for the year to June 30, 2004.
The forecast profit will be the first for the three-year-old telco, and is based on a predicted revenue stream of $15.7 million.
The company said its revenue growth for future years would be driven by its broadband or asymmetric digital subscriber line (ADSL) division, with services currently offered in Western Australia, NSW and Victoria.
Its start-up in the Sydney market had gone well, with 2500 customers signing up since the service started in February.
"If growth continues to meet industry expectations the company is budgeting for 7000 customers by the end of the calendar year and 14,500 customers by June 2004," Swiftel said.
Swiftel said its ADSL customer growth forecasts were based upon industry expectations for broadband use to expand to 20 per cent of users over the next three years.
