That's a really ignorant statement to make, incentives aren't the only reason Europeans are buying EV cars

Norway became the first countryto sell more electric cars than petrol, hybrid and diesel enginesput together last year, new data shows, with battery electric vehicles (BEVs) accounting for two-thirds of sales in the final months of 2020.

Norwayhas one of the world’s most ambitious green targets, planning to phase out sales of all new fossil-fuel vehicles by 2025, five years earlier than the UK.

It is quite a contradiction in a country that has become one of the richest in the world on the back of its oil and gas revenues, has made itself dependent on oil, and clings to further production even as the world increasingly rejects fossil fuels in pursuit of zero emissions.

The Norwegian Parliament has decided on a national goal that all new cars sold by 2025 should be zero-emission (electric or hydrogen). By the end of 2020, there were more than 330.000 registered battery electric cars (BEVs) in Norway. Battery electric vehicles held a 54 % market share in 2020. The speed of the transition is closely related to policy instruments and a wide range of incentives.

The current Government has decided to keep the incentives for zero-emission cars until the end of 2021. After 2021 the incentives will be revised and adjusted parallel with the market development.
