Most senior politicians from all parties meet some (and even all) of the criteria listed above by others. So what? You need to have a thick hide, a big ego and wonderful self belief to make a success in politics. Just look at the sample we have at present. And that's without even picking sides and talking about any of them specifically.
Two politicians from the past (overseas I admit) who have been kindly written up by history, Kennedy (US president) and Churchill (UK WW2 prime minister). One was a womaniser who would have made Clinton blush. The other was old and probably an alcoholic. They are remembered for what they did achieve, not what they otherwise did at the time. Are any of our current leader and leaders-in-waiting capable of anything that will remember them to future generations despite their foibles, petty & otherwise?
