Seriously mate, if it floats your boat to do the whole "it's cold somewhere today so the planet can't be warming" thing, that's absolutely fine with me. I was addressing the issue of whether obnoxious climate deniers should be tolerated and included at family events in Christmas, which I thought was the main point of the OP. After considering the pros and cons and the various mutual obligations we have as family, I decided to have my Christmas free of their particular brand of hubris and rudeness. It worked out well. I really don't expect either of my two particular deniers to live for much longer, so I'll make a special effort to see them both (but separately, thank dog) early in the New Year when I'll politely smile and refuse to engage with their rants (one of them is sure to bring up Buffalo).
One of the side benefits of not having the elderly deniers to our family event was that we also didn't have to discuss The Voice ("it's apartheid!), whether Trans people have rights ("what about the children!") and the general decline of Western civilisation due to "socialists" being in power. We had a lovely day.
