• The East Texas Eagle Ford play rapidly transitioned from "emerging" to "well established," largely thanks to Halcon Resources' (HK) active and highly successful delineation program (Halcon holds substantial acreage position in the play - which it refers to as El Halcon - which is adjacent to Clayton Williams' Giddings asset). As of October of last year, Halcon had only ~15 wells in the play with production history beyond 30 days. Currently, Halcon has close to 60 such wells. As a result, Halcon has effectively de-risked a larger part of its acreage. Most importantly, essentially all of Halcon's wells have been successful and convincingly demonstrated the play's commerciality. Halcon's success has provided important validation to Clayton William's own testing program that has included 13 producing wells drilled to date. The East Texas Eagle Ford has also recently received important endorsements from: Apache Corporation (APA), who is now the most active driller in the play with five active rigs (soon going to eight); Comstock Resources (CRK), who has just announced its first very impressive inaugural well in the play; and Anadarko Petroleum (APC)."
