"The blast happened at 3.45pm and the last contact with any of the trapped miners was lost at 4.15pm, Mr Brownlee said."

From what Peter Whittall said this morning, it sounds as though this guy was by himself at the head of the tunnel before the entrance to the mine. He seems to have been unconscious or disoriented for a period after the explosion, hence the delay in calling. He later walked out, along with the loader driver who, according to reports, seems to have been only 700m into the 2km long tunnel and yet was still knocked off his loader by the blast.

The remaining 29 trapped would be in various parts of the main mine - still a fairly small area compared to the tunnel distance. It would seem likely they were all closer to the blast than the one who walked out from the tunnel head.

This is going to be a tough wait, as sounds like at least another 4-6 hrs before rescuers are likely to enter.
