Its been emphasised of late to combat degue and viral infections in sri lanka. Personal hygiene in general and in hospitals is no doubt an issue. Surely MDV must have proposed to the srilankans to also supply sunnywipes and gel? surely the ministry of health must be also looking at these antibacterial products....

imagine an export order of sunnywipes to srilanka...this will be bigger than the metamizers! we wouldnt be restricted to 500 bed hospitals...this would be across the board!

i think macca needs to move in here throw in some sunny wipes and discounted price

Colombo, 28 June, (Asiantribune.com): Sri Lanka?s Health authorities has warned the Sri Lankan general public to keep their hands and face clean to avoid spreading of the prevailing viral fever in the country.

The Health authorities further advised the public to wash raw fruits and vegetables with salt water and also to consume meals prepared at home.

The Health authorities stated that several types of viral fever are spreading in the country.

Health Officials said they were treating more than 150 viral fever patients a day in all major hospitals including the Colombo National Hospital and the Kalubowila Hospital.

But the doctors said that this epidemic was not life-threatening, but could weaken the patient.

The doctors say most children are suffering from fever and dehydration resulting in severe vomiting, loss of appetite and not passing urine.

Meanwhile, of the 10,350 dengue cases reported in the island during the past six months, 60 deaths have been reported said Sri Lanka Health Ministry sources.

The Medical Research Institute inspected 62 potential dengue mosquito breeding sites recently. Out of those 62 places, six were inside State institutions.

Industrial wastage is another main problem which has direct link to dengue mosquito breeding. Colombo, Gampaha, Kalutara, Hambantota, Galle, Puttalam, Battricaloa, Ratnapura, Kurunegala, Trincomalee and Matara districts have been identified as high risk areas. The National Mosquito Control Week was held from June 20 to 26.
