Don't forget that the large companies are exporting in the form of LNG to Far East, ie international, not subject to domestic issues. of course wells and parts of fields deplete, and of course the producers will drill more wells to maintain production, it's only the domestic part of their gas that gets capped. That domestic part was always ullage, the remainder that falls outside international contracts.
