Anyway, I've been dealing with these ding-a-lings for the last 30 years or so and one thing I always do is ignore the noise and follow the money. Now I'm no trading genius, if I was I would have sold EXR at 45c and bought back in at 15c (I did buy more at 15.5c) - but as a retail investor I've seen it more times than I care to remember - our greatest strength is the ability to stare down the volatility and hold through the hard times and through the exciting times. The price going up doesn't make me a genius investor - the price going down doesn't make me a poor investor. The winner is the investor who can see the potential and double down in the hard times.

So what happened this week? - pretty much nothing. Look at the volume and look at the size of the average trade today, complete manipulation. The price was marginally run down, but only slightly. Pretty much why I said a few days ago (perhaps yesterday) that it must be becoming more and more difficult for the bot traders to make a quid in this stock.

I could be totally wrong, perhaps my reading of the company, its prospects and management are totally wrong (I'm a big fan of Neil Young and Kellerman). Perhaps China and Mongolia don't need or want the gas, perhaps it will be too difficult to transport (They pipe, liquify and ship from Australia FFS) - and if I'm wrong I'll cop the loss. What I won't do is let the fact a bunch a pant wetters are selling be the cause for me to sell.

I for one am certainly not concerned about daily fluctuations of the sp but I was interested to know the reason for such a large number of minuscule trades and how that could possibly influence the sp. I'm not a day trader having initially got into exr some 20 years ago when they were drilling for oil in the North Sea. It's a different company now of course and I was fortunate enough to substantially increase my holding when Neil & Co came on board so no complaints from me regarding the current sp.
I do have a fair bit of skin in the game however and in all the years I've held exr I've never parted with a single share. Unlike yourself, I'm not a contender for the top 20 and would need to double my holding to achieve that goal. One thing I do know for sure is I'll be holding onto my shares very tightly until the end game. With Neil & Co at the helm, we are in very safe hands.
