Batons were normally a standard item for police and security throughout the world but are now almost impossible to possess, even for the police force
They were apparently dropped due to excessive use, ie it was easier to ban them rather than to train police to use them properly  !!!

In the report about the stabbings they said there were three security people stabbed ??

If this is true then if they had been armed with a baton they would have been able to stop this guy before he went any further
Batons with proper training can be a huge advantage in any altercation with any person who does not have a firearm

It appears to be another example of the lefty loons screaming about the attackers rights and no concern for the victims rights

To legally possess an extendable baton in Queensland, individuals must have a lawful excuse or authorization.
Examples of lawful excuses may include being a law enforcement officer, security personnel, or individuals engaged in specific occupational roles that require the use of such tools for personal safety and defence. It is crucial to note that possession solely for personal self-defence purposes is generally not considered a lawful excuse.
