UK authority OKs Cuadrilla shale drilling extension August 6, 2019 Company News, Europe, Government, Natural Gas, News, Onshore 0ShareThe UK Oil & Gas Authority (Oga) announced Monday the approval of a request from shale gas producer Cuadrilla to extend work time at the Preston New Road site onshore England, Kallanish Energy learns.The company asked for more time to carry out hydraulic fracturing, which are scheduled to conclude by the end of November.One of the conditions of the planning permission requires all operations to be completed within a period of 30 months from the date of commencement of the drilling of the first well. However, the company will mark its 21st month of activity under the initial deadline.The Oga approved this request and also allowed for a three-year extended well test.“As part of the Oga’s regulation of onshore hydraulic fracturing operations, there are strict controls in place to ensure that operators manage the risk of induced seismicity from such operations,” the authority said, in a release.
