This article fails to recognise that if management of small mining companies, or any listed company for that matter, puts or doesn't manage unrealistic expectations in the market and fails to deliver to these expectations, then they are the ones to blame for a falling share price, not short sellers. Short sellers bet on the direction of shares, just as "long" investors do. Management of these companies are generally well incentivised to deliver for shareholders. If they don't then Management who use Short Sellers as a handy scape-goat should be held accountable. If Management exceed market expectations, shorters lose money. Simple. BTW I am not a short seller, just someone annoyed by well paid people not doing a good job and trying to pass the blame.
