Recent geo-political issues facing Shell are coming to a head. I refer to the Press TV article on the Nigerian Oilfields - Shell have suspended all oil production 2 days ago because of increased attacks on its facilities by MEND 'rebels'.

    http://www.presstv.ir/detail.aspx?id=99687§ionid=351020505

So What? The Nigerian oilfields problems have been simmering for years -- a recent Amnesty International report suggests...

"....the oil industry has resulted in impoverishment, conflict, human rights abuses in the region."

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/africa/8126353.stm

Shell report that in the past 3 years, gangs have also had over 133 employees kidnapped, with 5 people in the JV killed.

What If? While all this trouble has been tying up Shell resources, funds and focus, they have still been able to analyse other opportunities.

It seems unlikely that after losing significant production and revenue from the Nigerian sector, that they would waste precious time, revenue and effort on any wild goose-chases.

Of the opportunities that have been presented to Shell, this one must have been chosen for very good reasons -- they do not think that it is a high-risk play.

    Now comes the waiting period....

    Cheers
