The main reason they do not announce as quickly as we would expect say NEN to announce is the relative size of any discovery vs the mkt cap of the company. In the case of Exxon it has be a VERY big discovery for them to be required by the DOW to release the information. A few Trillion feet of gas or million barrels of oil is marginal to Exxon vs its total resource....for NEN on the other hand it makes a big difference and that villa in France seem all so much closer!
