Exxon has already been investing in EV charging stations...They already own the gas stations so when the transition to EVs increases, easy to take out the gas pumps and put in the chargers...
I also don't think EV charging stations is all Exxon (and other oil companies) will settle for as their only source of EV income...so investing in some way into the actual battery metal mines, especially lithium, certainly makes sense to me...
