You gotta understand fundamentals, such as whether a company is healthy or not, as much as whether what it sells makes a viable business. Then you can throw all of that out the window and forget about it if the business has FOMO attached to it.

Rule number 1. Have a very healthy suspicion of what the company tells you about itself. You are a shareholder but your interests are not aligned with the board despite it being elected to represent you.

Rule number 2. Do not believe anything that anybody else tells you about the company - Hot Copper users, the media (especially freebie web based investment news articles) and definitely investment advisers and commentators. Get your own advice and understand it. If you don't. don't go near it.
