In the United States, yes the SK-II MAGNETIC WAND trademark is dead. That jurisdiction requires declaration be made by the holder of the trademark that they are actually using it in commerce. P&G did not do so presumably because it was later decided to be a "soft launch" that did not go beyond Asia. In short, P&G let the trade mark die in the US (note that other countries don't require a declaration of use to be filed - once it's filed, the trade mark lives for up to 10 years) - which is why it survives elsewhere)

But why did P&G let the SK-II MAGNETIC WAND trade mark die in the UNited States when we know the device is about to be globally rolled out again? My suspicion is that they could be calling it something else ... SK-II MAGNETIC POWER BOOSTER perhaps? Perhaps the marketing feedback on the soft launch revealed that consumers don't like "wand" as a name (a bit tacky) and so they've opted for POWER BOOSTER now. We will soon see.
