Roc Oil eyes rig market, 500 million bbls at Aleta

Aussie outfit Roc Oil plans to drill some 21 offshore wells in 2009 across its acreage in Africa, Australia and China, the company reported Thursday, while new developments are being mulled.
Two prospects offshore Africa — Coco and Aleta 1 of Angola and Equatorial Guinea — are the only exploration wells planned. At Aleta, up to 500 million barrels of oil are targeted.
The remaining 19 are development wells, including some wells understood to be awaiting rig hires.
At the Basker Manta Gummy fields in Australia’s Gippsland Basin, an expansion of oil production is planned at the 3,500-barrel-a-day floating-producer development. Development plans for a gas project are also being drawn up.
