Time to do our own competitive analysis on eyeverify which to me is the competitor in question.
First of all a recent timeline:
    1. Date of last update announcement: 17/9/15
    2.  Release date of eyeverifys test result: 16/9/15 in the U.S. http://www.eyeverify.com/independent-accuracy-studies
    I.E. THE SAME DAY.
    3. Date of Kohler interview 9/9/15
THERE IS NO WAY THAT DR DYER KNEW OF THE RESULTS OF EYEVERIFY's TESTING PRIOR TO THE IV.

    Eye verify technology Eyeprint ID.
    1. Is it viable? Yes. It is primarily focused on the low end android OEM market and is already installed in some products. It also has a trial app on Apple or Google.

    2. Is it funded? Yes. 6million USD raising back in 2014.

    3. Technology used. Eye vein. Is this better than existing finger print / facial rec / iris etc. According to them yes.
    Why?
    1. Can be used in existing mobiles.
    2. Vein data held on device only with equivalent encryption to a 50 character password.
    3. Cheaper than existing modalities.
    4. I read somewhere that because the sclera changes ever so slightly but on a regular basis it's almost like a one time pin. Sorry can't find the link to this.

    4. Is it commercial now? Yes for multi sector applications.

    5. Marketing presence. Most definitely.

    6. Is it competing in the same sectors? Yes.

    7. Is it better than WBT tech? According to CURRENT test results yes but our full results haven't been released yet.

    8. Does it matter? Ultimately no. Why? My thoughts only.
    1. The tech is different. Eye vein vs corneal mapping.
    2. Although both are software only techs, one is app based the other is not. I think our tech will ultimately be built in to high end devices.
    3. The market is big enough for multiple players. E.g. Low end OEM android devices use it as a counter to the latest Apple Touch ID. Maybe Apple will counter with WBT corneal mapping?

There is no doubt in my mind that eyeverify is a legit competitor who is ahead of us by 6-9months. Will there be a place in the market for us? I believe so. Will WBT make money? It seems so as long as they don't f$&ck up the corporate management side of things!

Please add your thoughts and research.
