Just finished watching the RRS presentation by David Richards.
However, I watched the Pilbara metals presentation by Ken Brinsden MD too as it was on before Davids.
Telling points from his presentation that have a flow on effect for LTR and are very pertinent to LTR holders are
- "Pricing is going up - no question about it"
- Currently, $450 to $480 per tonne landed in China should hit $600 to $650 by end of 2021
- Growth in Lithium concentrate in 2021 will grow from 300,000 tonnes to $400,000 tonnes - a 25% increase ( no new mines coming on line this year to meet that demand)
- The Lithium market is entering a growth period which is "another order of magnitude"
- Consumers will have to consider an EV within the next 2 to 3 years.
- Residential batteries utilising Lithium Ion Phosphate are coming big time - in less than 2 years
My takeaway - LTR's timing is near perfect to take advantage of the upswing in demand and the resultant surge in price.
A few points from David's preso
- David reiterated that the ore grades for Kathleen Valley will be 1.6% for the first ten years.
- He again stated that the timeline for production could be compressed by about a year to the first half of 2024.
- He seemed bemused that some people doubt the ability of LTR to mine Lithium with an underground mine. He stated clearly that it is just another commodity and that management is very confident KV can be a successful and highly profitable mine.
- The biggest profits are in supplying the high end of the market with quality concentrates like Lithium Phosphate and LTR is heading down this track. FYI Lithium phosphate is majorly used in the form of a conductive thin-film electrolyte for the fabrication of a variety of high performance energy storage devices such as lithium ion batteries and other lithium based rechargeable batteries
- KV could be profitable even at today's prices but the timing of production for 2024 to 2025 will see prices well north of current
- Moora - Early exploration results have been outstanding.
- More than 2000 samples are pending assay results
- When asked a direct question - Do you like what you have seen from the ore samples. He would not disclose what he thought but I suspect David and LTR know it has a significant find at Moora but the professional David is would not speculate - My personal opinion is that I think they know they have a winner
