If some crazy offer comes in say around $3b or more than it would be hard to stay no but who knows.
Is it possible that the resource is so large and in such demand that 2 of those you have listed going joint venture but they are heavy hitters on a global scale and if your business decision is for the next 20 years than $3b is really not that much.
A bidding war would be great - just look what is happening to housing when demand exceeds supply - bang
As I say oil companies in the past and still present pay a lot more than $3b for major discoveries, a lot more.
