If they can't get the $40 million SPP away they'll raise it as debt. Not ideal because it means interest. Or they can defer the SPP.
They've set the 14th Jan date with fairly good knowledge of newsflow, so don't underestimate the potential for the SP to be quite a bit higher than now.
