100 years ago the opposite happened. In 1910, the number of electric vehicles in the world much more than ICE vehicles. However the ICE vehicles became mainstream during and after the WW1 (1914-1918) and EV died.
Now it's time to for EV's revenge I guess. It's unstoppable.
All the lithium majors are looking to buy spodumene based hard rock resources because the demand for lithium hydroxide is huge.
Tianqi Chemical plant in WA nearly sold out its whole production of 1. stge (24,000t per annum) . No other chemical plant to supply anything here in Australia atm. Albemarle's plant (Greenbushes feed) is being built. Albemarle will build another one with Wodgina project feed for 2023 sales. SQM/WES will start to build for 2023.
However the deficit for 2023 is still huge.
