Large satellite companies cannot replicate nanosatellite communications, there is highly complex IP which is behind each build plus software protocols which will enable each unit to communicate and create bandwidth. Google, Facebook you name it do not have managements extensive experience in this space. If you believe Facebook's project is commercially sustainable then your are kidding yourself - it is a philanthropic play hence the term "hand waving gesture" which is nothing more than to tick a few boxes. Their satellite is projected to cover only 25M users which will need to have dishes and modems installed in concentrated areas.
