Kevin Andrews is wrong when sprouting that Australia is heading down the same path as Europe in respect to welfare(social payments).
The ABCs fact check has produced charts comparing Australia to other developed economies in Europe including the UK and Australia has the lowest percentage of GDP social spend of any of the compared countries.
Further in terms of cash payments such as pensions, unemployment benefits etc Australia's spend is even lower.
So its a myth that is being peddled by Andrews and the Coalition.
If Australia goes down Andrews path they are going to create a class of extreme poor in Australia the likes not seen since the great depression.
All to make the extremely rich richer at the expense of the less well off.
Middle and lower income benefits could be hit.
