Because there are many retail traders in PLS the bots are trying to spook them by pushing the share price down with small volume to trigger stop losses. Often they are sellers and buyers all in one to influence the market. This works well for them if there is a bit of negative news around. Once our stop losses are triggered and the SP falls too far they buy in to give the borrowed shares back, hence make a profit on the transaction.
