You need to grip on your hysterical fears about missing out on opportunities.
The fundamental driver of what is happening on Earth is population growth - 3b in 1960, 6b in 2000, 7b+ today & 14b by 2050!
Barring global catastrophe or a massive wake up call, the needs of all those extra people somehow have to be accommodated - every structure on Earth needs to be duplicated every 40-50 years [and that doesn't even take account of replacement & upgrade of what's there now].
Those of us who consider such matters may have faith in our scientists, engineers, educators & technicians but boy are we losing our sense of humor putting up with the lead weights around our ankles screaming NO! NO! NO! all the time.
