I interpret by your comments that you have concerns about the viability of Union Pacific as a going concern. I would hazard a guess that you may have had some dealings Union Pacific at some point.
Typically, just because a statement of claim may be served on the company/individual does not mean that they are automaticly found guilty. Each party then has to follow the legal process.
Yes, any current/future business dealing may be affected by such alegations, that is why the person/company issuing a statement of claim can also be sued for defamation.
Finally, it is not unusualy for a company to use a 3rd party (broker/agent) to source a project/transaction. At its simplest form, Union Pacific could be seen as being a broker/agent for AEM.
