I thought it would a simple matter to establish a coupla orange trees in our NSW South Coast deep soil & very temperate climate.
There are many orange trees bearing fruit well around the district.
Our neighbour has a tree that fruits well the cockatoos rape it and drop their rejected bits on our lawn.
I bought a Dwarf Washington Navel Orange and a Valencia from big hardware store and let them acclimatise a few weeks in their pots before planting just before winter 2022.
I watched both for flowers and signs of fruit, buzzing insects.
The Valencia bore 1 orange last year - the other nothing.
However they have both reverted to non Citrus looking spikey stems with fleshy leaves resembling a 3 leaf clover.
The original citrus stems have died.
I assume they have no future now as orange trees so I am digging them out to replace with Feijoas
At the same time I bought the oranges I also bought a red and a white fig.
They are both a coupla metres away thriving & producing.
Anyway Hot Copper people - can anybody suggest What I have done wrong with the oranges?
Thanks for any enlightenment. I have photos I can post later
