No amount of arguments about jobs and the economy can excuse the barbaric cruelty to defenceless, dumb animals.
It is worth noting that the human race eats other creatures in order to survive. Over the millenia, I am sure unspeakable cruelty has been done by humans to other animals in order to put protein on a plate.
The Pope, the Queen, the President of the USA, the many holier than thou mullahs, Uncle Tom Cobbly and all are alive only because they have consumed countless numbers of dumb creatures. And this goes back to all their ancestors.
Life is harsh and cruel even though it may be dressed up in a sauce bernaise at Buckingham Palace. Let's make it less dreadful for the creatures that are eaten.
