    I don’t know where you are but you should first contact your state tenancy advocate if you feel you have been wronged. Have all your facts ready, such as any emails, letter correspondence, the exact date you returned the keys etc. Did you take property condition photos at beginning of lease?

    Regarding photos some managing agents will do the following take pre occupancy property condition report photos from a distance to show general condition. On exit condition reports they will zoom into window sill and areas where there a little marks scraps etc to show dusty/dirt build-up, cob webs, dead insects etc. these things are likely to have already been there prior to occupancy and they try to find an excuse to charge you cleaning costs. These things you wouldn’t be able to indentify from their initial general condition photos as they are from such a far distance.

    So those about to go into a tenancy, and you value a couple hundred dollars or don’t like people trying to screw you over spend 15-30mins going through the property on entry and take date coded CLOSE UP photos of the condition of the property - window sill and tracks, inside ovens and cupboards, light switches, door handles, tile grout etc. and make sure you always, always correspond with agents and landlord by email and archive them. 

    Just because they don’t contact you about something don’t assume everything is ok, send an email to ask about it. This will at least show you were doing the right thing and if you had to take it to arbitration or court it be in your favour - is my opinion.

    These are just relative petty things and a lot of people will just take the hit and move on, which is exactly what they are banking on, so they will try it on..
