He didn't assume that. The valuation was based on that premise.
But in answer to your question, how would zero growth be possible? By progressive erosion of current growth by competitors (Lonsurf, Theraspheres, and immunotherapy ....) The company themselves have said as much. If they don't move up the hierarchy, sales will go backwards.
China is a pipe dream, they will just make their own beads, there is no real barrier to entry and they don't care less about stealing IP.
