Don't give up on the US$ yet, it is still held in large amounts by China and Japan. They are unlikely to dump it yet as the US has huge investments in their countries.The Chinese economy is powered by overseas interests; the Chinese didn't wake up one morning and churn out all these consumer goods, American companies shipped in the equipment, designs and products. The Chinese provided the cheap labor. The world economy is deeply bound together from raw materials to the final consumer. Next move from here is a 'basket' currency that reflects the real world economy, but that will be a long time coming.
