Don't forget, the government has been adding to the companies woes reducing the amount they can charge.
Does this sound like a government that wants to support the taxi industry when there is a thriving solution already in the works.
They have already compensated drivers to a small degree as a 'sorry' we are letting ride-sharing operate now.
Capital cities are also that main driver of revenue for taxis, with companies offering battery powered scooters all around town, this is something they have to deal with as well. Just more incursion on their market share and these companies as well are being welcomed into cities due to social pressure on councils.
The odds are stacked against them.
If you are trying to find a positive, I think the only sticky market for them would be elderly transport. The over 70's market mainly.
I don't know about you, but under 70's are getting pretty savvy and are using Uber to get around too.
