Easiest path to NASDAQ listing is via the Toronto Stock Exchange. From there, it is a relatively low-cost exercise to dual list on the NASDAQ after 12 months or so. There are a lot of tax incentives on offer too with TSX. For many startups in the US, this is becoming an attractive path for listing, as employees have a shorter path to vest and offload equity holdings, then the much long and potentially more unlikely road that the big tech unicorns traditionally take. It's all part of keeping employees loyal - they are more likely to stick around if they can vest/offload equity in 2 years rather than the 5-6+ years a traditional IPO listing would take.
