As mentioned on this forum before, the English would not have defended the area if there was nothing there. As early as 1906 (maybe even earlier) the British have been carrying out scientific assessments of the area (Antarctica, South Georgia Falkland Islands etc). There are quiet a few scientific publications around. (Almost everytime an expedition goes down that way there is a report written.
The latest one I can find is from GREENWAY, Mary E. The Geology of the Falkland Islands (British Antarctic Survey Scientific Reports No.76)I'm not a geo, but a few of the structures that occur in West Afica are mentioned in some of the scientific reports. As someone has already suggested, drilling is not soon, so it won't affect the price for a while. I will watching and waiting for the ann. of this drilling programme also (I intend to hold for a while).
