For reference, I did some posts on this in late December and considered HVN to be one of the major underperformers for 2004(my #1 shorting candidate for the year). Since then, the stock has been decidely weak.
Christmas sales unlikely to be that strong, ranchise revenue mute, overseas operations underperforming, price competition stiffening, and HVN starting to become uncompetitive vis-a-vis competitors in a number of pricing categories. HVN is also seemingly reducing its overall stock spread (ie: less choice, less range).
Just some of the possible reasons for ongoing weakness.
