Why are you suspicious? I spose those who want to keep loosing money on small goldies could keep doing that. Its pretty obvious that the POG has not done much for them. So if you wanna have a gold stock, you may as well just buy NCM. Then at least you can understand what will happen to your investment with movements in gold price.
The sudden interest in NCM for me is just that. I know that if POG goes up, so does NCM. But that ain't the case with small goldies. Yes, it took me a long time to realise.
Also the price of NCM has had a fair retrace lately making it more attractive to those who are sick of seeing their small gold stocks plummett but still want to benefit from a bull gold run.
