This spectacular failure to communicate reminds my of a great Gary Larson greeting card.
There's a little little island with a palm tree on sand, and people in rags waving to a rescue plane that is searching.
They have carved "HELP" by dragging a stick in the sand.
But a wave has licked up and erased the circular curve of the "P."
The pilot sees it all and radios back to base: False alarm. It says "HELF."
