Not sure how the rental assistance is a factor ? If you need rent assistance you wouldn't be able to afford to buy a house .
There is no doubt that some people should rent . While the numbers need to work , owning your own place has a lot of other benefits as well.
I think one thing that people ignore is the money that is saved once you pay your house off . No one ever seems to factor that in . Especially after you're retired .
