The whole of consciousness is unexplainable in terms of physics or biology or psychology. That is if you are expecting a materialist reductionist explanation. It doesn't exist. Quantum physics is a major part of the answer. Look at the basic double slit experiment. You have solid particles when you are observing the light and wave interference pattern when you are not watching. In the delayed choice quantum eraser, the data can be watched in which case you will find particles or if it's later erased you find that a wave interefernce pattern has been recorded. Light reverts back to the default position of a probability wave when there is no observer, even when data was erased after the event.
As to parapsychology never providing any firm evidence, well actually it's the other view of material reductionism which cannot provide any evidence at all, and relies solely on a set of assumptions and beliefs.
