Stanley Bruce (conservative) was Australian PM from 9/2/1923 right up to the beginning of the financial crisis 22/10/1929 when he lost his own seat in a landslide victory to Labor.

Hmmm Stanley I think John Howard can relate.

James Scullin took over as a Labor PM but lasted just over 2 years because of the great depression. He was only PM 22/10/29 until 6/1/32. he has been described as not being a bad PM but rather a victim of the times.

Next we returned to Conservative politics with Joseph Lyons winning office and was PM from 6/1/32 until 7/4/1939 when he died in office and his party retained power for 2 more years.......

Does that mean we are about to get 8 or 10 years of Tony Abbott as PM ????
