you make a bland statement blaming the parents, not the kids, so thats not a bad start, the parents likely brought their traumas and fears for their kids with them from Sudan. but the kids grew up in Aus, so were more affected by the culture in which they developed. parents play a key role as does school culture. also very potent is the attitude of the broader community when it comes to rejection, isolation, of certain people of appearance, eg. skin colour.
