I would suggest emotional IQ is more fitting than intelligence quotient.
yep being raised in poverty in a poverty stricken community provides a very poor start. for anyone. we've had this discussion before I think cappie.
I too chose not to do what some of my friends were doing when they started breaking in to small shops for lollies, drinks and cigarettes, or when they started stealing cars. but my region was unstable with a lot of poverty, very large families, ehich meant very low parental supervision, and a serious lack of opportunity. I carried a small pocket knife as I felt it was dangerous and I needed some edge for some reason..... it really was meaningless as I wasn't equiped for violence.
there but for the grace of (good luck) go I .... so many small events could have become much bigger but I was simply lucky.
we really don't yet have the full picture of what and how these events occurred. its not possible for me to form an opinion on the guilt or otherwise about these stupid boys.
