Your trust, to become a shareholder in your company, will of course need to purchase shares in your company to become a shareholder. The next question that needs to be addressed is the valuation of the shares that your trust will buy.
Depending on your company's Constitution, it may have the flexibility to issue different class of shares with different rights to your trust.
